I find it hard to forgive myself when I make a mistake, and I also find it difficult to forgive someone else, so I wanted to write a song that reminds me to be more forgiving, loving, and understanding.

 A tribute to my dad who passed away from cancer. He had a great influence on me and I miss him very much. I also wanted acknowledge brotherhood and the celebration of life.

 This song was inspired by losing a ring down the drain and thinking that while I loved that ring, it's not that important - it's only an object. I also had a strange thought: what if my ring, all of the other stuff I've lost over the years, and everyone's stuff floats up to Heaven – then Heaven would be a big flea market. It's also a personal statement about society's fascination with materialism. I think it's a shame how we're encouraged to spend money on meaningless stuff while other people are living on the streets or just getting by.

 This song is about communication breakdown. I was in a band where the leader and I weren't getting along and we couldn't seem to work things out, no matter how hard I tried. I was frustrated because I couldn't get her to express her true feelings and communicate what she wanted in order for us to work things out.

heart goes boom
The idea for this song came to me while working out at the gym. There was a song playing with the repeating line “heart goes boom.” It reminded me of love at first sight, and those feelings we all get when we’re attracted to someone.
